When my exhaust went bad 187,000 miles on the OEM Saturn pipe and muffler I opted to go with original again. I had purchased the full kit listed, this item is on the list as the kit is designed to be fit up with pipe sections connecting using couplings and U-Bolts. I was prepared to do this but after thinking about it the original stuff made it through many states and a lot of salt. the slip on U-bolt design is great if you don't have a welder. I look at it though as a future spot for salt and road grime to hide hang out with it's buddy oxygen and stick around for a few years. The aluminized coating on the pipe provides great coverage but I have decided that I will weld my pipe sections together under the car. As the muffler is what went bad and my pipe was still good (technically I could have coupled the new muffler to the old pipe) I have decided that by welding I should be well on my way to another 187,000 miles on my new system.
If you don't own a welder this is a great quick option for a DIY exhaust system repair. Shipping speed was super fast, the fit up is just right, not too tight or loose and the pipe is nice and round. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] |
